About
Stepping back from a 25-year long career in make-up artistry in 2016, I embarked on a transformative journey through voluntary work in environmental sustainability. Over the course of two enriching years, I developed new knowledge in nature conservation and discovered deep solace and stillness of mind when immersed, and working within a natural environment.
During this period, my creative pursuits expanded as I began working with flora to create captivating botanical images. My passion for this art form led me to complete a course in botanical illustration at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh, where I graduated with distinction in 2018.
From 2019 to 2022, I trained as a 500hour yoga teacher with Yoga Scotland, and in 2022, I also became a qualified Forest School & Outdoor Leader with a certificate in Therapeutic Skills.
These additional areas of expertise have deepened my holistic practice as a lecturer in tertiary education and have been the driving force behind a career change later in life. My time as a volunteer not only shaped my professional trajectory but also deepened my connection with the natural world. This is reflected through my photography, writing and illustrations as well as mother nature workshops. With a playful approach I draw on each, weaving in the five pathways to nature connection (contact, beauty, meaning, emotion and compassion) to ignite a sense of awe, whilst highlighting the profound connection that exists between creativity, nature and wellbeing.
I am committed to promoting sustainable development – care for ourselves, care for our communities and care for the natural world.
Where possible, materials I use are sustainably, ethically and locally sourced near where I live and work in the Lothians, Scotland.
